The problem
Ask anyone with a pet where they take it and you get a name, a phone number and a story. That is the whole discovery system. Clinics, groomers and boarding kennels live on social pages that cannot show opening hours reliably, in map listings nobody has updated since the day they opened, and in group chats. The information exists. None of it is in a form you can search, compare or book.
What it is
AnimalsGarden.com is a booking platform for pet care: clinics, grooming, boarding and daycare, walking and sitting, training and behaviour, shops and pharmacy, shelters and breeders. Each business gets a profile that behaves like its own small site — services, prices if it chooses to show them, photos, opening hours, staff with their own roles, more than one branch, and a booking button. Owners search, compare and request an appointment.
Why it was hard
- Two-sided products fail on the side you did not plan for. An owner will not use an empty search, and a clinic will not fill in a profile for an empty audience. The listing has to be worth owning before the first visitor arrives.
- Trust is engineering, not a policy page. Ownership is verified before a profile goes live, and a review has to be tied to a real interaction. Skip that and the platform simply inherits the credibility of the review section it set out to replace.
- A profile that works as a small website is a far larger product than a row in a directory: roles and permissions, several locations under one account, media, and opening hours that survive a public holiday.
- Countries, currencies and time zones are in the schema underneath, because the alternative is rebuilding the platform the first time it crosses a border.
What it demonstrates
It is the same discipline I sell as a consultant, applied where the bill lands on me: settle the structure while it is still cheap, and refuse the features that would make it expensive to change afterwards. A marketplace punishes that mistake faster than almost any other kind of build, because the wrong data model is not visible until the day you need it to be right.
